what are possible solutions?

No, personally i think this problem can't be fixed. The reason why i say no is because there is always going to be someone out there that wants to keep drugs around. whether its for abuse or to make money. even if we are somehow able to get rid of it; it has already made its mark on the pacific with the deaths and the violence it has caused the damage that drugs and alcohol has already happened. what we as individuals can do is for the parents teach their children about drugs and alcohol. And for the children what we can do is make the right choices and think about whats at risk. if we do drugs at a young age we are going to become very addicted as adults. what we can do as a community is have the schools raise more awareness about it. instead of having a couple of Assemblies we should have things like class meetings, district meetings, and things like this. some thing that we can all do is reject drugs and alcohol in general; and parents be more aware of what their children are doing. already here and Hawaii we have D.A.R.E. and in the pacific there are a lot of drug and alcohol awareness groups. what other pacific island nations can do is come up with drug and alcohol awareness programs Like D.A.R.E. and for the adults in the pacific is do whatever they can to steer their children on the right track away from drugs. i think my solutions would cost money, but not a lot of it. it would cost money to pay for the people who teach the programs, and for the supplies they would need for the program. once the problem is fixed to keep from becoming a problem again the Pacific's law inforcement should put more of a strain on the drug trafficing and alcohol use.

How has the problem of drugs and alcohol affected me?

Because of drugs and alcohol my community is ranked as a bad neighbor hood. the reason why it was ranked so badly is because not only do adults do the drugs, but high school and middle school students do drugs. drugs and alcohol affect me personally because i have people very close to me that sell and abuse drugs such as marijuana, meth, and Oxycontin. this affects my daily life because i see these people very often. this is a problem in the pacific islands because it is one of the main causes for violent crimes and deaths. this does not affect only the Hawaiian islands, but almost every pacific island nation.life in the pacific would be different without this problem because there wouldn't be so much violent crimes and death in the pacific. other problems that will rise are more deaths, economy corruption, and violent crimes. the reason why i say that economy corruption will come from the problem of alcohol and drugs in the pacific is because here in Hawaii our economy is already bad and having a lot of Hawaii's people spend their money on drugs is not helping. this problem has changed my life by controlling the lives of people close to me. not only people in my family, but people that i still even converse with. Because drugs have taken over their lives i have lost family members and friends that i was once very close to. because of this problem i have seen a change in the people in my neighborhood who were once very friendly come to be no longer the same person that they once were. in stead now they stay shut in their houses and come out at night.

All these famous actors, actresses, and singers all sufferer's or suffered from the use of drugs. as you may know a lot of these stars you see have passed away because of drugs and/or alcohol. and those are still suffering don't look that good either.

Amy Winehouse Died of drinking
to much ALCOHOL at the age of 27.

Whitney Houston died of accidental
drowning, COCAINE, heart disease at
the age of 48.

Lindsay Lohan has not yet died. As you can see
she has become very hideous.from drinking alcohol
and doing drugs. she is only 25 years old.

These are only three examples of famous people that do drugs from a long list of hundreds of famous people that do drugs and alcohol use. as you can see drugs and alcohol can cause a lot of damage. even if we are not famous it still does damage.

What is alcohol and drug abuse?

Alcohol abuse is a major problem in the pacific. Alcohol can be referred to as Drink, booze, brew, hooch, moonshine. alcohol is made from the natural fermentation of fruits, vegetables and grains.
it is used as a depressant or a relaxer. The risks of drinking alcohol are very dangerous. when you drink alcohol it can damage the part of your brain that controls coordination, memory, judgment and decision-making. Each year, about 5,000 people under the age of 21 die as a result of underage drinking. This includes about 1,900 deaths from car accidents, 1,600 homicides, 300 suicides.

This is some examples of the drinks alcoholics use.

Drug abuse is also a major problem in the pacific. the types of drugs used in the pacific include kava. kava is used to contact or get in touch with supernatural beings. Can lead to liver problems. in Hawaii people use drugs such as cocaine, heroin, meth, marijuana, club drugs which include including GHB, MDMA, and LSD, and other drugs like hydrocodone and Oxycontin.
